I have the honor, in pursuance
of the directions contained in your Lordship's despatch to Sir H. Pottinger's address,
of 12th January, to enclose
an Account of the Expenditure
of the Colony of Hongkong
from the ratification of the Treaty
of Nanking to 31st March, 1844. I likewise forward
an Estimate of the Expenditure which may probably be required (including public works and
buildings) for the year ending the 30th April 1845, and beg to refer to my Despatch
No. 15 of yesterday's date - on the subject
